for everyone

Dear Fellow Parents,

It's still summer and in between your weekends in the mall or at the beach, I'm sure your kids are enrolled in various dance, art or sports classes to help them improve their skills or to simply keep them busy. May I then invite you to give them three more meaningful days of learning and sharing – in our KIDS FOR PEACE SUMMER WORKSHOPS! Help your kids to become not just better singers or soccer players, but better persons for our world today!

This will be a 3-day workshop from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, for kids aged 9 to 14 years old, at a residence in Makati. Choose from any of these dates: May 21 - 23 (Wed - Fri) or May 29 - 31 (Thurs - Sat); but please text or email me soon to reserve slots for your kids. The workshop fee is only P850 to cover materials, snacks, and facilitators' allowances for the three days; kids may bring their own lunch or add P300 for their meals.

By the end of the workshop, our kids will hopefully begin to care more about our country, experience the meaningful joy of being of service to others, and believe in living with and working for peace. Our topics will range from peace values, unity and diversity, non-violence, respect for the environment, understanding their rights and the problems of today, as well as learning the different ways to create peace – at home, in school and in the bigger society they live in. We will be using various forms of creative learning, such as fun and games, songs and dances, art and theatre, films, discussions and interaction. Many of these activities I have drawn from the best of local and international workshops we have designed or participated in, from the spirituality of the Focolare movement for younger generations, the CFM’s Christian Parenting for Peace and Justice, the Seven Habits for Highly Effective Teens, and other peace and human rights education centers.

Lastly, just a short note about myself and the group: I have been facilitating various training programs for youth and student groups for over twenty years, during my work with several peace and human rights government offices and non-government organizations. This is a project of Youth Aid, a registered organization that organizes the "Operation: A Days Work" with over 200 schools nationwide each year. I am now a mother of four children, with ages 9, 11, 12 & 15 years old, and I really believe that there is hope in making our world a better place for them – if we can get our kids to join our efforts now!

To enroll your child or to inquire about the workshop, please email me at mardi@mapamail.com or call / text me at 0917-860-9250. And a favor please – do forward this invitation to as many of your friends and fellow parents. Thank so much!

Mardi Mapa-Suplido
Youth Aid Executive Director
